KT Holsters are built with a water evacuation feature. You may notice a small "Anchor" symbol next to the QR code and web address laser engraved on the holster. This symbolizes "Maritime ready," because we supply these holster all over the world to both State Military, PMC, and other entities that require an "All Weather Holster."

Notice: The retention and fitment from one holster to another may vary depending on your handgun model and/or handgun and weapon light combination. KYDEX holsters with the contour friction retention captures your firearm via is physical features (contours). Adjustable retention holsters such as the KT AKELA line or the Mechanized KT Gunfighter holsters will give you the ability to adjust the retention strength.

How to install a belt attachment to the KT AKELA holster:

KT AKELA holsters (adjustable retention)

- Each KT AKELA holster will have an adjustable retention. The retention set screw forward towards the muzzle will affect the slide retention. The retention set screw closer to the trigger guard will affect the trigger guard retention.

- The KT AKELA holster employs a passive friction retention method which you can adjust to fit your needs. The Duty KT AKELA holster will be built native with a secondary active retention system (Mechanical hood and thumb switch release or the Thumb break). The Mechanical hood and thumb switch release is only available with the Duty KT AKELA holster.

- You can add the Thumb break feature to any holster by simply adding this feature to the shopping cart with your holster order.

Weapon light KT AKELA / Duty KT AKELA holsters (Weapon light compatible)

- In the holsters page, the Duty KT AKELA holster and the Weapon light compatible KT AKELA holsters are available with a weapon light attached. You can select the weapon light with the Duty KT AKELA holster from the "VARIANT" drop down menu. You can select the weapon light with the Weapon light compatible KT AKELA holster from the "WEAPON LIGHT" drop down menu.

- The weapon lights available to each handgun model may differ because some fits most but not all (i.e. a full size weapon light may not fit a compact handgun, therefore it is not an available option).

- Each weapon light attaches to the handgun, typically via an accessory rail. These accessory rails typically come in two most common formats, the Military Standard M1913 rail dimension (i.e. 1911, CZ, FN, HK, S&W, Sig Sauer, Walther, etc...), and the Weaver or Glock rail dimension (i.e. Glock, Springfield, etc...).

- Each weapon light manufacturer may have a different method of attaching to the rail. Most light manufacturers provide a set of rail keys that lock onto the accessory rail, typically to fit either the M1913 or Glock rail dimension. If you're not sure of which rail key to use on your handgun and weapon light combination, just contact us and we'll provide you with the optimal setup to ensure a good fit with the holster, email: contact@kt-mech.com

- If you modify your weapon light's attachment method outside of the manufacturer's suggested usage, we may not be able to build a holster for you because it would be very unlikely for us to exactly duplicate your personal craftsmanship, thereby we cannot guarantee a good fit.

Ideal for Range and Duty

- KT AKELA holsters are ideal for OWB open carry and/or Duty use. The wide range of available attachments allow you to fully customize your carry method.

- The KT AKELA holsters mounts are located close to the center of gravity for the best possible balance for this holster configuration. The mounts being located close to the center allows the holster to ride higher, ideal for in vehicle use.

Available in Standard or Rounded Muzzle that's ideal for in vehicle use to help reduce wear on your seat upholstery.

Available with a Standard Cut for more slide coverage or with the Competition Cut to allow clearance for a Reflex Sight (RMR, Red Dot) installed on your slide.

Notice - OWB/IWB variant: OWB/IWB SB and IWB only KT AKELA holster options are available under the BELT ATTACHMENT drop down menu.

OWB/IWB SB - This option will allow you to carry the OWB/IWB SB KT AKELA as an (OWB) Outside the waist band holster, standard draw. You will also be able to carry the OWB/IWB SB KT AKELA as an (IWB) Inside the waistband holster, palm out draw or "Small of Back" carry. As of 11/28/2016, the OWB/IWB SB will be built with no cant (Zero Drop) to give you more carry latitude. This option will include a easy on/easy off belt clip. Non-Universal bolt pattern.

IWB only - This option is a standard draw (IWB) Inside the waist band carry only and will be built with a 10 degree forward cant. This option will include a easy on/easy off belt clip. Non-Universal bolt pattern.

- New as of 12/16/2015, when you choose the "Paddle" attachment with your KT AKELA holster, we will install the new standard Paddle that's adjustable for cant, forward or back.

Universal central bolt pattern cluster (sits offset from the body, fast draw)

- The KT AKELA's universal bolt pattern cluster sits about center of your belt line for the best balance and allows for in vehicle use.

You can drop the holster lower with the use of either the Drop and Offset mount (fits between the holster and belt attachment), KT Drop Leg (universally attaches any OWB holster), or the KT SP Plate drop leg (high speed, specifically for the KT AKELA line of holsters).

The KT AKELA line of holsters does not have captured binding posts to allow you to configure the bolt pattern to fit the BLACKHAWK!, Blade-Tech, and Safariland bolt patterns.
